The women had little to no knowledge about the science behind menstruation, and also did not use sanitary pads.
This is a fairly common issue all over the country. According to a leading National Newspaper, of the 336 million menstruating women in India, only 36 percent use disposable sanitary pads, and the rest use alternatives such as cloth, ashes and husk during menstruation, thereby causing severe reproductive health problems.
One of our Cause pertaining to Women Empowerment is Woman’s health and welfare which is of prime importance and conducts menstrual hygiene camps with an aim to create awareness on adopting hygienic practices amongst women. More than 300 million women and girls in India do not have access to safe menstrual hygiene products, endangering their health, curtailing their education and putting their livelihoods at risk, women groups are not even educated on the proper usage and disposal of sanitary pads as well. In these awareness camps, there is also a free distribution of Sanitary Pads, Face Masks, Vitamin D tablets, Calcium Tablets and Iron Tablets to more than 1000 such deprived ladies who cannot afford this hygiene and health
Sutra’s plan is to organise such camp after every alternate month. If you are interested to donate any of above items or any other item which can improve Hygiene and Health of deprived women, please come forward and contact us at : +91 99535 89890 or write to us at : firstname.lastname@example.org.
